BIO-EN-AREA last newsletter!

The Final Conference of BIO-EN-AREA Project was celebrated on 16 and 17 April 2013 in León.  It also included panel discussion, biomass boilers exhibition with 15 exhibitors as well as study visits to relevant bioenergy installations open to the public.

BIO-EN-AREA Project is a Miniprogramme funded by ERDF through INTERREG IVC Programme and its objective is to improve bioenergy policies in different European regions and territorial development, implementing regional biomass plans.

Partners continue cooperation after BIO-EN-AREA Project activites.

 

Partners representing BIO-EN-AREA regions have signed the constitution of an European Bioenergy Network and they agreed on:
 
•Using bioenergy resources as the first energy option.
 
•Collaborating with the regional bioenergy companies, supporting in research actions and knowledge exchange to increase the competitiveness of the bioenergy sector.

From 11th to 13th of March 2013 more exchange visits took place in SE Sweden.

The Energy Agency for South East Sweden, regional partner in BIO-EN-AREA project, hosted the events.  

Leading politicians and stakeholders from Tartu (Estonia) and Western Macedonia (Greece) participated in a three days visit to meet regional

stakeholders from SE Sweden and see interesting plants and buildings.

Partners and participants from BIO-EN-AREA mini-programme discussed during a workshop about the integration of sub-project results in regional Biomass Action Plans.

Objectives:

  • To present recommendations by sub-project participants to improve regional BAPs.
  • To start the integration process through a brief presentation by each participant.
  • To discuss interesting results, practices and policies within the regions involved.

The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
