Partners continue cooperation after BIO-EN-AREA Project activites.

 

Partners representing BIO-EN-AREA regions have signed the constitution of an European Bioenergy Network and they agreed on:
 
•Using bioenergy resources as the first energy option.
 
•Collaborating with the regional bioenergy companies, supporting in research actions and knowledge exchange to increase the competitiveness of the bioenergy sector.
 
•Working in the management integration of the sector.
 
•Encouraging final users to use bioenergy through an efficient application of public economic resources.
 
•Involving new generations in the sustainable use of natural resources such as biomass.
 
•Focusing on the creation of employment and setting population in rural areas a key element for a successful valuation of the bioenergy actions.
 
 
 
 

The commitments agreed are based on the following principles: 

  1. Promotion of energy and rural development
  2. Bioenergy as an environmentally and sustainable development activity.
  3. Energy diversification by using local resources.
  4. Improvement of economic competitiveness of local enterprises.

The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
