The district heating plant of Cavalese serves about 500 families, many companies, offices, supermarkets, schools, hotels and the local hospital. The district heating plant uses as fuel forestry biomass of the Val di Fiemme: the clippings of wood gathering processed by the local sawmills to produce wood chips, are stocked in a wide area (31.500 m3). The plant consists of two biomass boilers with nominal power of 4 MW and of two emergency natural gas boilers with nominal power of 5,3 MW and 4 MW. The lenght of the road distribution is 22 km and the network serves 510 users, representing 83% of the population of the area.
