Possible demonstrated results:
Data 2009: Number of teachers employed = 85; number of students enroled = 667; number of students at the boarding school = 170; 2 PHD Programmes; 4 research areas; 3 special research centers; 9 research programmes; more than 50 companies (local, national and international) cooperate with the Technology Trasfer Center; collaboration with 30 Research Center and Universities. 7 researcxh projects at local and international level in the field of biomass running in the period 2010-2013: Biotec (financed by Caritro Fundation), Zootanolo (promoted by the Italian Ministry of Agricolture), Biogas in Alpine Areas (financed by the Province of Bolzano), Terra and Vega (both promoted by the Province of Trento), Biomaster (EU Programme CIP-IEE-2010) and subprojects BaN within BIO-EN-AREA (financed by EU Programme Interreg IVC). Structures available to the center: biomass laboratory, olfactometry laboratory (olfactometer TO7 (standard EN13725), electronic nose, anemometers, air sampling instruments), composting pilot plant, equipment for the study of anaerobic digestion (3 laboratory digesters and one dry pilot plant).
Possible success factors:
The key success factors are the high technical compentences of the researchers, the link with the local framework and the territory of the Province and the attention to the training activities of local people, besides cooperation and collaboration activities with local, national and international research institutes and universities. The research center is stricltly linked to the Provincial structures, providing data and studies in the field of agriculture (study on the potential use of pruning residues and agricultural waste), farm (study on the valorization of animal manure) and forestry sector (study on the availability of forestry biomass in the Province).
