Location
Country:
Estonia
Region or District or Metropolitan Area or Municipality:
Tartu
Detailed description of the practice
Description of the practice:
Co-production of heat and power. The main goal of the heat and power co-production plant is the covering of the annual base load of Tartu City heat network. The capacity for electricity production is 25 MW. It is used a fluidized-bed boiler and the fuel capacity is about 84 MW. The designed capability of the fuel reception complex is 720m3/h. The reception complex consists of two 3000m3 silos, a conveyor system which is able to transfer the into the day silo with the speed of 240m3/h.
Lessons learnt from the practice:
During the winter-time heat network peak load it is possible to switch the pant over totally to heat production (80MW). The same possibility is used when it is necessary to stop the turbine. The main fuels are milled peat and woodchips. Annual fuel consumption is 475.000 MWh. Year of ordering 2007 and commissioning 2009
